Giving Principles

• We give to faith-based and non faith-based nonprofits. We are Christians and believe God works to restore and renew the world through all people.

• We focus on a leader’s vision, mission and ideas to improve the lives of vulnerable people. We try to understand a leader deeply up front and then back the leader to use unrestricted funding as the leader sees fit. We stay open to ways we can support leaders to become more effective through general operating and capacity building opportunities.  

• We look for leaders who listen to and incorporate the voices of the people their organization serves. We prioritize nonprofits practicing authentic community engagement and co-creation of solutions.

• We look for evidence of leadership (staff and board) who have been directly impacted by or who are indigenous to communities they work for.

• We give globally and have focuses in the US and Bay Area. We prioritize organizations that work in areas where we have a personal connection to or that have plans to scale to more cities. (See our map of international regions and US cities where we have grantee relationships).
